What Is depo-subQ provera 104?
  depo-subQ provera 104
vs Depo-Provera

What's the difference?
Between the original Depo-Provera® (medroxyprogesterone acetate), and
depo-subQ provera 104

Less hormone, smaller needle

Lower dose of hormone
depo-subQ provera 104 gives you 31% less hormone than Depo-Provera 150 mg; plus it has a smaller needle. Each dose of depo-subQ provera 104 still protects you from getting pregnant for 12 to 14 weeks.
Smaller needle
SubQ stands for "subcutaneous," which means "under the skin." (The original Depo-Provera shot was given in a muscle.) The new depo-subQ provera 104 also has 31% less hormone than the original Depo-Provera. A smaller needle and less hormone make depo-subQ provera 104 a great option.
Highly Effective
No women got pregnant taking depo-subQ provera 104 in 3 clinical studies of 2042 women who took the shot for up to 1 year with perfect use. depo-subQ provera 104 is a highly effective way to prevent pregnancy. Each dose protects you from pregnancy for 12 to 14 weeks.

What if I'm already taking Depo-Provera?
If you and your health care provider decide to make the switch, just get depo-subQ provera 104 at your next birth control visit instead of Depo-Provera. You won't miss a day of pregnancy protection.
